Missouri lawmakers recently passed Senate Bill 727, a significant measure that paves the way for charter schools to operate in Boone County in central Missouri.
This legislation expands the list of districts where charter schools can be established beyond St. Louis and Kansas City. The fate of the bill is now in the hands of Gov. Mike Parson.
If ratified, the bill would provide Boone County families the chance to explore alternative public education options for their children in a way they did not have access to before. Charter schools have seen a nation-wide uptick in enrollment over the last 10 years. More than ever before, families are realizing that a one-size-fits-all education model does not work for every student.
